Abanca Pantín Classic Galicia Pro returns to international surfing circuit

The 39th edition of the Abanca Pantín Classic Galicia Pro is returning to the international stage as a World Surf League (WSL) QS 6000 International event. Held in Valdoviño, the competition runs from Saturday, August 22, through Sunday, August 30.

More than 200 surfers from 23 different nationalities are participating, including 144 men and 80 women. The event features a mix of elite global talent and emerging stars, such as Americans Levi Slawson and Dimitri Poulos, Hawaiian Ian Gentil, and Portuguese surfer Frederico Morais.

Organizer Yago Barreto noted that the event aims to recover its international essence following the restructuring of circuits caused by pandemic-era movement restrictions. This edition serves as a precursor to the competition’s 40th anniversary.
