Mexico regional updates: Hurricane recovery and local infrastructure
Various Mexican states are managing diverse local developments and emergency responses. In Baja California Sur, Governor Víctor Manuel Castro Cosío is evaluating damage and initiating recovery efforts following Hurricane Polo in Comondú, including food aid and temporary employment programs.
In Sonora, Governor Alfonso Durazo reported a ‘saldo blanco’ (no casualties) following Hurricane Polo, allowing for the resumption of economic activities after monitoring weather conditions and managing shelters.
Other regional updates include infrastructure and social programs: Tamaulipas is investing 26 million pesos in a Wellbeing Center in Jiménez; San Luis Potosí is highlighting road and urban improvements in Salinas de Hidalgo; and Chiapas is seeing infrastructure and agricultural support in Socoltenango and Tapachula. Additionally, municipal authorities in Villahermosa, Nuevo Laredo, and Ahome are coordinating preventive measures against heavy rains and managing public services.
