Abass Baraou signs multi-year deal with Top Rank

German super welterweight boxer Abass Baraou has signed a long-term, multi-year promotional contract with Top Rank. The signing follows Baraou’s significant achievements, including winning the WBA interim title in August 2025 and a narrow split-decision loss in a title unification bout against Xander Zayas in January.

Top Rank is immediately scheduling a high-stakes matchup for Baraou. He is set to face Giovani Santillan in a 10-round main event on September 11 at the Frontwave Arena in Oceanside, California. The bout will be part of a ProBox Promotions card streaming on ProBoxTV.

Top Rank President Todd duBoef noted that Baraou’s recent performances, including his dominance over Yoenis Tellez, demonstrate that he belongs among the division's elite. The upcoming fight against Santillan, a fighter with three consecutive wins, serves as a significant test for Baraou as he seeks to establish himself in the American market.
