ABB and data center infrastructure demand see significant growth

ABB reported strong third-quarter results, driven by a massive surge in orders for data center technologies. The company's revenue rose 14 percent to 9.70 billion US dollars, while orders reached a record 12.06 billion dollars, representing a 40 percent increase on a comparable basis. The operating margin (EBITA) improved to 20.8 percent, supported by growth in electrification and automation segments.

Parallel to ABB's growth, the provider Dsit reported a 36 percent year-over-year increase in server cabinet sales via Serverschrank24.de in July 2026. Dsit attributes this trend to companies investing in their own IT infrastructure to increase digital sovereignty and reduce dependence on US-based cloud services. This shift follows guidance from the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) regarding the risks of third-party access to corporate data.
