ABB Robotics and Productive Robotics introduce AI-driven automation tools
ABB Robotics has expanded its OmniCore EyeMotion system with the AI Robot Trainer, a tool designed to simplify the deployment and scaling of AI-powered vision applications. The system integrates image acquisition, AI model training, and deployment into a single industrial workflow. According to Marc Segura, President of ABB Robotics, the technology aims to bridge the gap between robot perception and physical action, potentially accelerating commissioning by up to 90% and reducing cycle times by up to 50%.
In a separate development, Productive Robotics introduced the OB7AI, a 7-axis collaborative robot (cobot) featuring physical AI specifically for CNC machine tending. Designed for job shops and contract manufacturers, the OB7AI uses scanning technology to navigate work areas and manage tasks without requiring traditional AI training cycles for new parts. The system allows operators to place blanks on a work table and enables the robot to autonomously find parts, open mill doors, and load vises.
