Abba Kabir Yusuf advocates for Nigerian presidential power rotation

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has advocated for the continued rotation of presidential power between Northern and Southern Nigeria. Speaking at the Government House in Kano, Yusuf stated that power should return to the North in 2031, following the completion of a two-term cycle for the Southern region.

Yusuf argued that allowing each region to complete two terms provides sufficient time for administrations to implement major development projects and policies. He called on political stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu in completing a second term to ensure the current rotational arrangement remains stable. The Governor emphasized that this system promotes national cohesion, fairness, and mutual trust among Nigerians.
