Abbas Araghchi discusses Strait of Hormuz security with Iraq's Foreign Minister

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly in New York to discuss bilateral cooperation. The two officials reviewed economic, commercial, consular, and security ties, emphasizing the importance of protecting shared borders and combating terrorist activities.

Regarding maritime security, Araghchi addressed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, noting an agreement between Iran and Oman to establish safe commercial shipping routes. He asserted that current insecurity in the Strait is solely due to the aggressive actions of the United States and the Zionist regime, stating that restoring security requires the cessation of destabilizing American actions. Araghchi also called on regional countries to adhere to the principle of good neighborliness and prevent aggressors from using their territory to carry out illegal actions against Iran.
