Abbey Theatre premieres Eoghan Quinn’s ‘visions’
The world premiere of Eoghan Quinn’s play, ‘visions’, has debuted at the Abbey Theatre’s Peacock Stage as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival 2026. Directed by Claire O’Reilly, the production utilizes a non-traditional structure that begins as a rehearsed table read before transitioning through monologues and a final theatrical act.
Set in a run-down ballroom near O’Connell Street, the narrative follows Denise, an interior designer played by Derbhle Crotty, and Tadhg, a builder played by Mark Lambert, as they attempt to restore the space for an upcoming event. The plot involves a business partner, Rob, who is seeking seed capital from American investors for a medical-device app, and Aimee, a conservation architect from the council played by Lauren Larkin.
While critics have praised the performances of the cast, including Oliver Flitcroft, some reviews noted that the production’s experimental structure and narrative pacing struggled to deliver a cohesive experience.
