Abbotsford driver impounded for speeding near school zone

A 65-year-old driver was caught traveling 98 km/h in a 50 km/h zone near a construction area and school zone in Abbotsford on September 10. The Abbotsford Police Department reported that the driver was “aggressively passing other motorists” when intercepted by an officer.

When questioned about the excessive speed, the driver claimed they needed to reach a bathroom. As a result of the incident, the driver received a speeding ticket and their vehicle was impounded for seven days. The Abbotsford Police Department noted that 329 vehicles have been impounded for excessive speeding so far this year.
