Abbotsford highway interchange traffic changes starting September 10
Major traffic-pattern changes are scheduled to begin as early as Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Highway 11 and Highway 1 interchange in Abbotsford. These changes are part of the Highway 11 Interchange Project, a component of the Fraser Valley Highway 1 Corridor Improvement Program aimed at reducing congestion and improving safety.
As part of the construction and demolition activities, the existing loop ramp from Highway 11 northbound to Highway 1 westbound will be permanently closed. To access Highway 1, drivers will instead use a new temporary traffic signal to make a left turn via the existing southbound on-ramp. Additionally, the climbing lane on Highway 1 westbound at Riverside Road will be closed.
Reduced speed limits will be enforced, with limits set at 50 km/h on Highway 11 and 80 km/h on Highway 1. Drivers are advised to expect delays, particularly during peak travel times, and should monitor DriveBC for updates, as timing may change due to weather conditions.
