Abbotsford Police respond to reported shooter on apartment roof

The Abbotsford Police Department responded to reports of a man on an apartment building roof in the 2300 block of Whatcom Road appearing to carry a rifle on Tuesday evening. More than 16 officers were deployed to the scene to ensure public safety.

Following an investigation, police determined the individual was an employee of a pest control company performing bird control using an air rifle. While notices regarding the work had been posted inside the apartment building, no notifications were provided to neighboring businesses or the general public.

The individual was detained without incident and was cooperative throughout the process. Police commended the public for their timely 911 reports, noting that such actions allow officers to quickly evaluate risks and maintain community safety.
