Abbott receives CE mark for dual glucose and ketone sensor

Abbott has announced that its Libre Duo and Libre Duo 10 Day systems have received the CE mark, allowing for their commercialization in the European market. These devices represent the first continuous monitoring systems to combine the measurement of both glucose and ketones within a single biosensor.

The technology is designed to provide real-time metabolic information, specifically aiming to detect early increases in ketones. This is a critical feature for managing diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), a serious complication—particularly for individuals with type 1 diabetes—where the body produces excess ketones due to insufficient insulin. Abbott plans to begin launching the Libre Duo systems in selected European countries during 2026.
