AbbVie Korea hosts partnering day to boost biotech global collaboration
AbbVie Korea, in collaboration with the Korea Health Industry Development Institute (KHIDI), recently held the ‘AbbVie Korea Partnering Day’ to foster global R&D cooperation and market entry opportunities for domestic biotech companies.
The event, held in Seoul, brought together approximately 120 biotech firms, academic researchers, and officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The program focused on connecting innovative domestic platform technologies and drug development pipelines with AbbVie’s global research, development, and investment networks.
During the event, 1:1 partnering meetings were conducted between Korean biotech companies and AbbVie global experts, including representatives from AbbVie Ventures and the global Search & Evaluation (S&E) team. Discussions centered on potential joint research, technology transfers (license-outs), and strategic investments. As part of the ‘AbbVie Biotech Innovator Award,’ companies such as Curogen and Epibiotec were selected to receive financial support and global R&D mentoring.
Officials from the Ministry of Health and Welfare and KHIDI emphasized their commitment to strengthening open innovation support systems to help domestic research capabilities achieve global commercialization.
