AbbVie reports clinical remission data for IBD treatments

AbbVie has announced several scientific findings regarding its inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) portfolio, to be presented at the United European Gastroenterology Week in Barcelona. The data focuses on clinical and endoscopic outcomes for patients with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis using therapies such as upadacitinib (Rinvoq) and risankizumab (Skyrizi).

In the U-ENDURE extension study for Crohn’s disease, upadacitinib 30 mg showed an 86.6% clinical remission rate at week 144, while the 15 mg dose showed a 78.9% rate. For ulcerative colitis, clinical remission rates at week 96 ranged between 54.0% and 73.1% in the COMMAND study using risankizumab.

Additionally, interim UPlift data indicated that 70.2% of evaluable patients with moderate-to-severe Crohn’s disease achieved a clinical response by week 12. Real-world claims analysis also suggested lower hospitalization and surgery rates for patients switching from TNF inhibitors to upadacitinib compared to those switching to other TNF inhibitors.
