Abby Phillip signs new contract with CNN amid potential merger

CNN anchor Abby Phillip has signed a new multi-year contract to remain with the network, according to reports. Phillip, who hosts the 10 p.m. roundtable political debate show ‘NewsNight’, becomes the latest of CNN’s three primary prime-time hosts to secure her position.

The contract renewal occurs amid uncertainty surrounding a potential takeover of CNN’s parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, by Paramount Skydance in a proposed $110 billion merger. The new agreement reportedly provides Phillip with contractual protections regarding compensation even if a new owner implements programming changes.

Phillip joins Anderson Cooper and Kaitlan Collins as the network’s secured prime-time talent. Cooper renewed his contract last year, while Collins has several years remaining on her current deal. The talent agreements come as employees monitor how Paramount CEO David Ellison might manage the cable news network following the merger.
