ABC News announces new anchor teams for ‘GMA Weekend’

ABC News has announced a new anchor format for ‘GMA Weekend’ starting this weekend. Rachel Scott will co-anchor the Saturday edition alongside Whit Johnson, while Rhiannon Ally will join Gio Benitez for the Sunday broadcast.

Leslie Lopez, who joined the network in April from KABC-TV, will serve as the weekend meteorologist. The new lineup also extends to the streaming platform, where the four anchors will rotate hosting ‘ABC News Live Weekend’ at 10 a.m. ET. Additionally, the new team members are expected to appear more frequently on weekday editions of ‘Good Morning America.’

This restructuring follows the departure of Janai Norman in April after her contract was not renewed. Scott will maintain her current role as senior political correspondent covering the White House and Capitol Hill while taking on her new Saturday anchoring duties.
