ABC’s 20/20 to feature documentary on ‘The Suitcase Murders’

ABC is set to premiere a new episode of its documentary series ‘20/20’ titled ‘The Suitcase Murders’. The program examines a decade-old criminal case involving the deaths of Laura Simonson and Jenny Gamez.

The investigation began after two suitcases containing human remains were discovered along a Wisconsin highway. The case centered on the disappearance of Laura Simonson, who was last seen in Rochester after checking into a hotel with Steven Zelich, a former Milwaukee police officer. Hotel employees eventually identified Zelich as the last person seen with Simonson, providing a critical lead for investigators.

Zelich was subsequently charged with the murders of both Simonson and Gamez and is currently serving a 35-year sentence. The episode is scheduled to premiere on October 16, 2026, on ABC, with streaming availability on Hulu and Disney+.
