ABC's 'The View' Hit by Budget Cuts as FCC Probe Looms

The Federal Communications Commission is reviewing whether the daytime talk show The View qualifies as a “bona fide news program.” If the FCC reclassifies the show as entertainment, it would be required to provide equal airtime to all political candidates and could affect the renewal of ABC’s broadcast licenses.

Amid the regulatory scrutiny, ABC is slashing The View’s budget ahead of its 30th season. All six co‑hosts—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin—have taken pay cuts, and the program’s wardrobe budget and studio expenditures have been sharply reduced.
