ABC's 'The View' under FCC investigation and social‑media misinformation scrutiny

ABC has launched television and online ads urging viewers to tell the Federal Communications Commission that its morning talk show, The View, is a "bona fide" news program. The campaign comes as the FCC, chaired by Brendan Carr, reviews complaints that the program may have violated equal‑time rules and other broadcast standards.

Separately, a segment on The View discussing the Karmelo Anthony murder case was flagged on X with a Community Note after hosts made several disputed statements. Claims that the defendant lacked a “jury of his peers,” that he was the only Black participant under the tent, and that he weighed 130 lb were challenged, with the note correcting the jury‑selection facts and the defendant’s weight to approximately 162 lb. The backlash highlighted concerns about misinformation on the program.
