Former Ecuadorian President Abdalá Bucaram is facing a serious health crisis, according to recent updates from his family. His wife, María Rosa Pulley, shared photographs on Bucaram’s official Instagram account showing him hospitalized and connected to medical equipment, including oxygen cannulas and monitoring cables.

Bucaram’s legal defense recently submitted medical certificates stating he requires 30 days of rest due to cardiac issues, including heart failure. Reports indicate he was admitted to a clinic following emergency complications involving atrial fibrillation and flutter, which necessitated the replacement of a cardiac device.

In a lengthy message, Pulley requested prayers for her husband and urged that his medical condition not be exploited for political confrontation. She also addressed the ongoing judicial processes involving the former president, calling for due process and justice, while expressing concern that the legal pursuit against him has contributed to his physical deterioration.
