Abdelhak Nouri shows signs of health improvement nine years after cardiac arrest

Abderrahim Nouri, the brother of former Ajax Amsterdam player Abdelhak Nouri, has provided an update on the footballer's health nine years after a cardiac arrest during a 2017 friendly match against Werder Bremen. He reported that Abdelhak's condition has stabilized and shown positive signs that have exceeded medical expectations.

Abdelhak currently resides at his family home under 24-hour care. While he is unable to speak and uses a wheelchair, his family believes he can hear and understand his surroundings. They have developed a method of communication using simple gestures, such as raising his eyebrows, which he has used to correctly answer basic mathematical questions.

The family maintains a close relationship with Ajax, with club members visiting regularly. The Moroccan-born player suffered severe brain damage due to oxygen deprivation following the incident in Austria. Support for the player continues from the football community, including Moroccan international Ismael Saibari.
