Abdelhak Nouri's condition stable, brother reports

Abderrahim Nouri has provided an update on the condition of his brother, former Ajax footballer Abdelhak Nouri, nearly nine years after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a training match. Speaking on the podcast ‘Schuilen in Schoonheid’, Abderrahim stated that Abdelhak’s condition is stable and significantly improved compared to the initial period following the incident.

Abdelhak remains in a state of reduced consciousness, alternating between periods of wakefulness and sleep without a fixed daily rhythm. While he cannot speak, his family has developed ways to communicate with him, noting that he can respond to simple math problems by raising his eyebrows. His brother expressed the family's conviction that Abdelhak ‘hears and understands everything.’

The family continues to provide intensive daily care at home, and the bond with Ajax remains strong, with club representatives still visiting the family. Abdelhak occasionally watches Ajax matches on television, which his brother says brings him joy.
