Abdellah Ouazane returns to Ajax after failed Real Madrid transfer

Midfielder Abdellah Ouazane was on the verge of joining Real Madrid in the summer of 2025, completing a medical in Spain before the deal collapsed for undisclosed reasons. A subsequent examination in the Netherlands confirmed his fitness, but Madrid still withdrew. Ouazane then returned to Ajax, signing his first professional contract through the summer of 2028. He quickly progressed, impressing with Jong Ajax and making his first‑team debut in December 2025, reinforcing his reputation as one of the Netherlands’ top youth prospects and a leading Moroccan talent, having previously been named the best player at the U‑17 Africa Cup.

In a recent Ajax‑organized Q&A, Ouazane and teammate Pharell Nash discussed the aborted transfer, the lessons learned, and their ambitions to become key players for the club. Ouazane described the experience as a learning moment that helped him refocus on his development at Ajax.
