Abdellatif Ouahbi links Morocco's rising cost of living to global crises

Moroccan Justice Minister Abdellatif Ouahbi has attributed the rising cost of living and declining purchasing power in Morocco to international economic crises. In an interview with Sky News Arabia, Ouahbi explained that Morocco’s close integration into the global economy makes it vulnerable to external shocks.

He specifically highlighted the impact of rising oil prices and maritime shipping disruptions. Ouahbi noted that fluctuations in global oil markets directly increase transportation costs, which in turn raises the prices of food and essential goods. He also cited geopolitical tensions, such as the conflict near the Strait of Hormuz, as factors contributing to these economic pressures. The minister emphasized that national economic trajectories are often shaped by international market conditions and global financial institutions.
