Abderrahim Archane defends political record amid Moroccan government consultations
Abderrahim Archane, founder of the Social Democratic Movement and member of the House of Councillors, has responded to criticisms and labels such as “executioner” directed at him during the Moroccan government formation consultations. Archane addressed the controversy surrounding his meeting with Head of Government Fatima Zahra Mansouri, alleging that media coverage was censored to make it appear as though he was received alone, whereas he was accompanied by three other members.
Defending his political and personal history, Archane highlighted his roles as a member of the National Council of Resistance and the Liberation Army, his participation in the Green March, and his family's historical refusal to collaborate with colonial powers. He challenged his critics by expressing readiness to participate in a televised debate to expose what he termed “the real executioners.”
Archane also criticized the current government formation process, suggesting the new cabinet resembles a reshuffle rather than a new government because several former ministers retained key portfolios. He called on Mansouri to take firm action against what he described as a “fifth column” spreading rumors.
