Abderrahim Bouaïda resigns from Istiqlal Party and Parliament

Abderrahim Bouaïda, a Member of Parliament representing the Guelmim constituency, has announced his resignation from the Istiqlal Party and his seat in the Chamber of Representatives. The decision follows the party's choice to grant its electoral endorsement for the upcoming legislative elections to another candidate, Charaf Eddine Mohammed El Mostafa, rather than Bouaïda.

Bouaïda criticized the selection criteria used by the party leadership, suggesting that his exclusion may be linked to his vocal political stances and criticisms of the government. He stated that he prefers to maintain his political principles and independence rather than securing an endorsement through compromise. He also raised questions regarding the legal background of the chosen candidate.

While Bouaïda has not officially joined a new political organization, there is significant speculation regarding his next move. Reports suggest a potential return to the Progress and Socialism Party, an organization he was previously affiliated with before joining the National Rally of Independents and later the Istiqlal Party. He emphasized that his departure marks the end of one phase but not his exit from political life.
