Abdoulaye Miskine sentenced to 15 years in prison by Chadian court

The criminal chamber of the N’Djamena courthouse has sentenced former Central African warlord Abdoulaye Miskine to 15 years in prison. The verdict, delivered on September 9, 2026, follows charges including insurrectionary movement, murder, kidnapping, sequestration, and rape.

Miskine was also ordered to pay 30 million CFA francs to each victim's family. His three co-defendants—Abdel-Azize Groh, Adam Rakhis, and Rongo Djouma—each received 10-year prison sentences.

The defense contested the jurisdiction of the Chadian court, arguing that the alleged incidents occurred in the Central African Republic and that the statute of limitations had expired, as the events dated back to 2002.

While the civil party expressed partial satisfaction with the ruling, they noted disappointment that the court did not reclassify the offenses as crimes against humanity, which could have resulted in life imprisonment. The legal proceedings have been ongoing for over a decade.
