Abdoulaye Miskine trial in Chad postponed to August 31

The trial of Central African rebel leader Martin Koumtamadji, also known as Abdoulaye Miskine, has been postponed again by the N’Djaména High Court. The hearing, originally scheduled for August 26, 2026, was adjourned until Monday, August 31.

The postponement follows a request from civil party counsel to allow for the presence of 28 civil parties and several witnesses. Defense attorney Benjamin Mamgodjibaye noted that the presence of these parties may be difficult as they reside in various locations within the Central African Republic, such as Batangafo and Kabo.

Miskine has been in detention at the Klessoum prison since November 2019. He and his co-defendants face charges including criminal conspiracy and participation in insurrectionary movements. During the brief proceedings, the accused denied the allegations. The defense has requested that the August 31 date be a firm deadline, meaning the trial should proceed even if the civil parties fail to appear.
