Abdoulaye Wade delivers peace lecture in Abidjan

In February 1992, Abdoulaye Wade, then serving as Minister of State, traveled to Abidjan for the Abidjan Peace Week. The event followed his receipt of the Houphouët-Boigny Prize for the Search for Peace in Paris, an award presented under the presidency of Abdou Diouf.

Wade was received by large crowds and the Ivorian Minister of Defense before delivering a lecture at the Palais des Congrès at the Hôtel Ivoire. The conference was chaired by then-Prime Minister Alassane Ouattara and attended by various high-ranking officials, including Pdci-Rda Secretary General Laurent Dona Fologo and Grand Chancellor Koffi Gadeau.

During the event, Paul Akoto Yao, president of the World Federation of Unesco Clubs and Associations, praised Wade as a defender of rights and a man of conscience. Local media, including the newspaper Fraternité-Matin, described Wade’s presentation as “brilliantly convincing.”
