Abdourahmane Diouf questioned by IGE in Kosmos Energy probe

Senegalese Minister of Energy and Petroleum, Abdourahmane Diouf, has confirmed he was personally questioned by the Inspection générale d’État (IGE) regarding the Kosmos Energy investigation. Diouf stated that he cooperated with investigators by providing requested documents and noted that the IGE is interviewing various actors involved in the matter.

The investigation centers on the Kosmos Energy case, involving questions regarding 55 million dollars and 33 billion CFA francs. This inquiry is part of a broader review of oil and gas contracts signed under the previous administration, a transparency initiative led by President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.

Diouf, who previously served as a spokesperson for the national oil company Petrosen, emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and called for the institution to complete its work undisturbed. Kosmos Energy is a major player in Senegal's energy sector, notably participating in the Grand Tortue Ahmeyim gas project.
