Abdukadir Husonov praised for speed as Manchester City defender after Guardiola departs

The Premier League’s official channel released a video highlighting Uzbek centre‑back Abdukadir Husonov’s speed, describing him as “very fast”. Manchester City’s former manager Pep Guardiola repeatedly praised Husonov for his ability to chase down fast attackers and correct defensive errors, noting the player’s quick decision‑making as a key asset.

Despite Guardiola’s departure from City at the end of the 2023/24 season – a move that surprised many given a year‑long contract – analysts say it will not affect Husonov’s standing. The defender signed a new contract extending to 2031 and remained a regular starter, appearing in 37 matches and playing 2,817 minutes across all competitions. He helped City win the FA Cup and the League Cup.

As the club prepares for the next season under new head coach Enzo Maresca, Husonov continues to be regarded as a core component of City’s defence, valued for his pace, positional reading and reliability in one‑on‑one situations.
