Abdul El-Sayed calls for abolition of ICE

Democratic Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has called for the abolition of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), arguing that the agency is ‘not working.’ During an interview with Fox News, El-Sayed claimed that the United States had ‘far fewer’ illegal migrants during the era of the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS), which was dissolved in 2002.

El-Sayed stated that immigration policies were enforceable under the INS without the methods currently employed by ICE. While he expressed support for the recent arrest of a migrant in Michigan involved in a child molestation case, he maintained that the INS would have been capable of making such an arrest and argued that current enforcement methods are inconsistent with American freedoms.

El-Sayed is preparing for a November election against Republican former Representative Mike Rogers.
