Abdul El-Sayed faces scrutiny in Michigan Senate race
Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is facing intense scrutiny regarding his campaign finances, political alliances, and personal conduct during the midterm race.
Republican opponent Mike Rogers has accused El-Sayed of hypocrisy, alleging the candidate secretly met with Senator Chuck Schumer to request $10 million in corporate PAC money despite campaigning on a platform of removing big money from politics. Additionally, El-Sayed is facing criticism for his association with streamer Hasan Piker, whom he has attempted to downplay as a mere “California streamer” despite their previous campaign work together.
The campaign has also turned personal following a social media exchange with Vice President JD Vance. After Vance mocked El-Sayed’s facial hair in a video, El-Sayed responded by questioning Vance’s appearance and challenging him to a weightlifting competition to prove his physical strength.
Further scrutiny has been directed at El-Sayed’s professional background, with reports questioning his medical credentials and his refusal to return donations linked to certain political interest groups.
