Abdul El-Sayed faces questions over Jewish outreach and party inclusivity
Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed is facing scrutiny regarding his relationship with Michigan’s Jewish community. El-Sayed recently shared a video highlighting his Rosh Hashanah celebrations with two local activists, Elaine and Missy Shifman. However, reports indicate the women have previously appeared in videos for Jewish Voice for Peace, an anti-Zionist organization.
In a separate development, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, who has endorsed El-Sayed, questioned whether there is still space for Jewish Zionists within the Democratic Party. During a podcast interview, Nessel asked if the party remains a ‘big tent’ for those who hold differing views on Israel. El-Sayed responded by affirming his commitment to a broad coalition, stating that while Democrats may disagree on specific issues like Israel, they can still march in lockstep on the majority of other policy matters.
