Abdul Mumin set to join Girona after Rayo Vallecano departure

Ghanaian defender Abdul Mumin is set to join the Spanish club Girona following a successful medical. The 28-year-old centre-back will join the side as a free agent after his contract with Rayo Vallecano expired.

Mumin released an emotional open letter to the Rayo Vallecano fans and the Vallecas community, expressing his gratitude and sadness regarding his departure. He noted that he had forged lifelong friendships and felt at home from his first day at the club. He also extended thanks to the club's staff, including kit managers, cooks, and cleaners, whom he described as the ‘soul of Rayo.’

Mumin originally joined Rayo Vallecano from Vitoria Guimarães in 2022 and became a prominent figure in their La Liga campaigns due to his defensive reliability and physical playing style.
