Abdulaziz Ganduje returns to APC after three months in NDC
Abdulaziz Ganduje, the eldest son of former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje, has returned to the APC after a three-month stint with the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The return was formalized on Sunday at the Ganduje Ward office in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, where Abdulaziz collected a new party membership card.
During his time with the NDC, Abdulaziz had obtained a nomination form to contest the Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimin Gado Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general elections. His brief defection was viewed as an alignment with the Kwankwasiyya movement led by former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, a political rival of the Ganduje family.
While the move to return to the APC follows the closing of nomination form deadlines, it is seen as a strategic step to consolidate the Ganduje family's political influence in Kano ahead of the 2027 elections. Separately, Rabiu Kwankwaso has dismissed the political relevance of Abdullahi Ganduje and other Kano political figures, claiming they are ‘politically finished’ in the state.
