Abdulla Yasir appointed head of Visit Maldives Corporation

Ibrahim Shiuree has resigned as the Managing Director of the state-owned Visit Maldives Corporation. Appointed in June 2024, Shiuree led digital campaigns and international partnerships to diversify the nation's tourism offerings. The specific reasons for his resignation remain unclear.

Following the resignation, the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board appointed Abdulla Yasir as the new Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director. Yasir possesses over 25 years of experience in tourism, hospitality, and corporate management, including leadership roles at One&Only Kanuhura and Supersupply & Watermark. He takes over the role as the corporation continues its destination marketing activities in international markets.
