Abdullah Al Rabeeah highlights Saudi humanitarian role at UN

Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), participated in a high-level side event titled ‘Humanitarian Diplomacy that Protects International Humanitarian Law’ during the 81st UN General Assembly in New York.

The event was organized in partnership with the European Union, African Union, Ireland, Brazil, and Jordan, and attended by Queen Mathilde of Belgium. During the session, Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasized that humanitarian diplomacy is essential for formulating effective collective responses to urgent challenges, particularly in the Middle East and Africa.

He highlighted Saudi Arabia’s leadership in humanitarian and developmental work, noting that the Kingdom has supported more than 9,000 projects across 175 countries, with a total cost exceeding $145 billion. Al Rabeeah stated that humanitarian diplomacy serves as a pillar for protecting international law, facilitating safe aid access, and preventing the diversion of aid to fuel conflicts.

Furthermore, he noted that KSrelief focuses on building strategic partnerships with UN agencies and international organizations. The center currently collaborates with 112 local organizations across 586 projects in 34 countries, with a total cost exceeding $779 million, to enhance community resilience.
