Abdullah Al-Salam University launches first medical student cohort

Abdullah Al-Salam University has welcomed its inaugural cohort of 54 students to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences for the 2026/2027 academic year. The students have begun a six-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.

Developed in academic partnership with King's College London, the curriculum emphasizes mental health alongside physical health, prevention, technology integration, and quality improvement. The program utilizes a modern, integrated approach that connects basic medical sciences with clinical sciences through active learning, problem-solving, and teamwork. It aims to prepare physicians capable of navigating rapid advancements in medical science, technology, and artificial intelligence.

University President Dr. Mona Al-Ahmad described the launch as an ambitious step toward building an educational system that prepares medical competencies to serve society. Acting Dean Dr. Ayed Khader noted that the program is designed to produce future-ready doctors who can balance scientific expertise with empathy and human rights.
