Abdullahi Bewene signs five‑year contract with Baník Ostrava

Nigerian international Abdullahi Bewene, a 21‑year‑old midfielder who also plays as a right‑back, has signed a new five‑year contract with Czech club Baník Ostrava, keeping him at the club until June 2031. The deal ends recent transfer speculation linking him with clubs such as Slavia Prague, Gent and Club Brugge.

Baník Ostrava’s head of the sports department, Luděk Mikloško, said Bewene has shown “very interesting performance progress” and that the club believes he has not yet reached his ceiling, describing him as a player with the parameters for top‑level football. The club values him at around €850,000 and expects his market value to rise if he continues to impress.

Bewene, who progressed through Baník’s youth system and B team before becoming a regular starter, made his senior debut for Nigeria’s Super Eagles in a friendly against Poland in June and also featured in a 2‑1 loss to Portugal, underscoring his growing importance to the national side.
