Abdur Rahim builds and maintains own grave in Jhenaidah
In Kushadanga village, located in the Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah, an elderly man named Abdur Rahim has spent the last five years constructing and maintaining his own grave. The structure is built with bricks and stones, featuring pillars, a roof, and small minarets.
Rahim has prepared two graves: one for himself and another adjacent one for his wife, expressing a wish that they be buried side by side. He stated that his decision stems from a fear that his children might not perform his and his wife's funeral rites properly after their deaths.
To prevent any financial or emotional burden on his family, Rahim has already completed various religious formalities, including the 'chilla' and 'doa mahfil' (memorial services), while still alive. His unusual preparations have drawn curious visitors from various areas who come to witness the site.
