Abel Martínez reaffirms 2028 presidential aspirations

Abel Martínez, the former mayor of Santiago and former presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), has reaffirmed his intention to seek the party's presidential nomination for the 2028 elections.

Through a series of community meetings titled ‘Un café con Abel’, Martínez has been engaging with party members, community leaders, and citizens to discuss national issues such as public security, health, education, and national sovereignty. He emphasized the need for political unity to address the deterioration of basic services and economic challenges in the Dominican Republic.

Regarding the PLD's internal measurement process scheduled for October 18, Martínez stated that he respects the procedure and that his political project will remain impartial. He noted that the formal route toward his 2028 candidacy will be defined within the established legal timeframes.
