Abel Ruiz discusses overcoming self-doubt at Girona

Girona FC striker Abel Ruiz has spoken candidly about his recent struggles with form, injuries, and mental health following his arrival at the club in the summer of 2024. After scoring two goals in the first eight league matches, Ruiz admitted to experiencing periods of deep self-doubt regarding his physical condition and technical quality.

The player noted that criticism from fans at Montilivi and hostility on social media were difficult to navigate. He credited his recovery and regained confidence to the support of his family and the club's psychologist, Xavi Lucas.

Ruiz also reflected on a challenging pre-season, noting that a lack of enthusiasm within the locker room made it difficult to maintain motivation during training sessions.
