Gustavo Petro faces legal rulings and UNGRD interference allegations

Former President Gustavo Petro faces multiple legal and social challenges following his departure from office. The Cundinamarca Administrative Tribunal overturned a previous order that required Petro to retract statements regarding the presidential electoral system, ruling that his comments fall within the scope of political debate.

Petro is also embroiled in controversy regarding his post-presidency living arrangements. Residents in a Bogotá residential complex have expressed dissatisfaction with the security presence and helicopter activity surrounding his temporary stay at a property owned by Gustavo Bolívar. Additionally, Petro has denied reports suggesting he faced difficulties purchasing property in La Calera due to his inclusion on the U.S. OFAC list, calling such claims attempts to stigmatize his private life.

In legal developments, the defense for Olmedo López, former director of the UNGRD, has alleged that Petro is interfering in the corruption investigation related to that agency. This has led to a complaint filed before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Meanwhile, the administration of Abelardo de la Espriella faces scrutiny regarding the lack of public opinion polling and the social unrest following the death of criminal leader 'Bendito Menor'.
