Abelardo de la Espriella forms cabinet as María Fernanda Cabal eyes 2030 presidency

Aglaé Dinora Caraballo Mercado, known as "La Reina del Porro," is expected to join the government of President-elect Abelardo de la Espriella as the Vice Minister of Cultures, Arts, and Knowledge. She would serve alongside Paola Holguín for the 2026-2030 term. Caraballo is a musician from Montería with an extensive career promoting traditional Caribbean Colombian music.

Separately, former Senator María Fernanda Cabal has announced her intention to run for the presidency of Colombia in 2030. Cabal confirmed she will not join De la Espriella's cabinet, stating that the president-elect seeks ministers without political agendas, whereas she intends to continue her political activities. While expressing support for the new administration, Cabal noted that managing relations with Congress will be a significant challenge for the incoming government.
