Abelardo de la Espriella presents ‘Libro de la Verdad’ corruption report

Lawyer and political figure Abelardo de la Espriella has presented the ‘Libro de la Verdad: Empalme Anticorrupción 2026’ (Book of Truth: 2026 Anti-Corruption Transition). The 135-page document identifies nine critical behaviors allegedly contributing to corruption during the administration of Gustavo Petro.

The report outlines over 80 findings and 23 prioritized cases involving sectors such as land reform, the penitentiary system, and community infrastructure. In the land reform sector, the document claims that out of 351,463 hectares delivered via the Land Fund, only 98,148 have full registration, leaving over 206,000 in provisional status. Additionally, it highlights concerns regarding the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management and the San Juan de Dios Hospital program.

While the document is described as a political-technical diagnosis rather than conclusive judicial proof, it has been presented to the Prosecutor General's Office, the Comptroller General's Office, and the Inspector General's Office. The findings may impact international consortia, including Spanish firms involved in infrastructure and energy, due to the nature of the public contracting investigated.
