Abelardo De la Espriella warns officials on ideology and Congress on corruption
Colombian President Abelardo De la Espriella has issued several warnings regarding the ideological alignment of his administration and the integrity of legislative processes. He announced a “frontal struggle against wokism,” stating that government officials must adhere to his administration's foundational principles and values. De la Espriella declared that any official who does not share these views should step down, emphasizing that he will not tolerate ambiguity regarding his stance against what he describes as moral relativism and the influence of “wokism” in education and culture.
Additionally, the President addressed potential corruption within the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature. He warned the Congress of the Republic that any attempts to trade legislative support for government positions, contracts, or public resources will be met with severe consequences. De la Espriella instructed the Minister of the Interior, Rodrigo Lara, to report any irregular pressures or improper requests to the Presidency, noting that the government would make such instances public to ensure transparency.
