Abele Ajello Hospital opens new intensive care unit in Mazara del Vallo

The Abele Ajello Hospital in Mazara del Vallo has officially launched its new intensive care unit, featuring six active beds. The activation follows necessary infrastructure upgrades, including the installation of fiber optic cables, and the completion of staffing with specialized doctors, nurses, and socio-sanitary operators.

Sabrina Pulvirenti, the extraordinary commissioner of ASP Trapani, stated that the new unit expands both the availability and the quality of care at the facility. Francesco Damiani, director of Anesthesia and Resuscitation, noted that the unit will treat patients with severe critical conditions, such as multi-organ failure, unstable vital parameters, and those recovering from major surgery.

The unit has also been integrated into the regional 118 emergency network. This integration allows the hospital to accept critical patients transferred from other medical facilities within the Palermo-Trapani area, strengthening the region's emergency management capabilities.
