ABEMA to host free marathon broadcast of anime Hikaru no Go

The anime series ‘Hikaru no Go’ will be available for free streaming on ABEMA. All 75 episodes of the series are scheduled for a marathon broadcast starting August 13, 2026, through August 18, 2026.

Based on the manga by Yumi Hotta and Takeshi Obata, the series follows Hikaru Shindo, a young boy possessed by the spirit of a Heian-period Go master, Sai Fujiwara. The story depicts Hikaru’s journey as he discovers his talent for the game of Go through his interactions with Sai and rival player Akira Toya. The series is credited with popularizing the game of Go among a wide audience during its original broadcast from 2001 to 2003.

Following the marathon broadcast period, episodes will remain available for free viewing on the platform for one additional week.
