Abeokuta courts arraign two men for assault and theft

Two separate criminal cases have been brought before courts in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Omideji Afolabi, 35, was arraigned in an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court on a one-count charge of assault. Prosecutors allege that on April 8, Afolabi attacked his neighbors, Folorunsho Emmanuel and his wife, with a kitchen knife, causing grievous bodily harm. Afolabi pleaded not guilty to the charge. Magistrate R. A. Lawal granted him bail in the sum of N100,000, with the case adjourned until September 1.

In a separate matter, 36-year-old Waliu Idowu was arraigned for allegedly stealing N5.2 million from a businesswoman, Ademola Bilikisu. The prosecution claims Idowu was entrusted with 198 bags of rice valued at over N9.7 million but failed to remit the full proceeds from sales. Idowu pleaded not guilty to the theft charge. Magistrate O. O. Sam-Obaleye granted him bail in the sum of N5 million, with the hearing scheduled for September 10.
